It’s tough being real in a world of fakes.
You’ve got to stay vigilant, keep up, and constantly make sure that no one’s stealing your work. Right now, the NFT space is the Wild West, a lawless place where the first people to dive into the experiment are making bank, and changing the game — fundamentally. No doubt, a radical shift is happening for artists and the collectors that support them.
However, there are some big questions that need answering. Right now, marketplaces are flooded with bad actors minting fakes of major artists’ work.
Beeple, Shepard Fairey, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and KAWS have already had fake works imitated and sold on NFT platforms in recent weeks.
Not only is this embarrassing for the marketplaces, but NFT fraud, once again, cuts artists out of the deal. And this is happening everyday, everywhere. IP infringement runs absolutely rampant in the NFT space.

We are seeing the rise of all kinds of scammers out there: impersonators, thiefs, counterfeits, and con men. We’ve even seen the famous founder of an NFT platform unwittingly purchase an inauthentic NFT.
Right now the only things keeping people from dropping fakes are hidden in community guidelines or tiny boxes before you hit “mint.” That’s not enough.
Let’s make this right.
We have the opportunity and responsibility to shape the NFT landscape at such an early stage when standardized practices and methods verifying the authorship and authenticity of works have yet to be implemented.
We are forming the CXIP Alliance, where artists and collectors come together and commit to safeguarding and standardizing IP protection on marketplaces. We love this community, and we want to help protect it.
CXIP also plans to introduce a community governance token which will allow NFT artists and collectors to further define the safeguards and standards needed to establish an NFT industry that we can be proud of.
We are united together as pioneers ensuring that this exciting new frontier for creators is being built with a strong foundation.
